The placid blue waters of Lake Winnebago, picturesque sandy beach, and tree-lined roads make this triathlon a time to bask in one of Wisconsin’s most beautiful areas. Lake Winnebago, one of the largest inland lakes in the U.S., is the main focus of the High Cliff State Park. There is a huge viewing area from the park’s limestone cliffs. Explore and enjoy its many trails and activities: biking, horseback riding, hiking, roller blading, boating and more. Take in the entire Fox Cities view from High Cliff’s 40-foot tower. Pets are allowed in the park. Course Features: Swim The point-to-point swim will be in Lake Winnebago along a unique panoramic shoreline. A buoy line will be available to rest on if needed and will serve as a guide for the finish point, which will have a huge balloon arch. Transition After out of the water, there is a gradual climb up the hill going under the pavilion walk-way to the bike corral. There is an area to wash the sand off. The short distance course heads out of the park through quiet neighborhoods that surround the park. Then it re-enters the park to make a rather steep climb, and it leaves the park onto country roads that go south and make a huge rectangle. These roads are well groomed and flat. The end of the bike course comes into Sherwood, which has a nice slow ascent and descent into High Cliff Park. The long distance course is the same as above but adds in the breathless beauty of the east side of Lake Winnebago, including 3 to 4 steep climbs and descents. Run The run will be through a very scenic park area with the finish close to the transition area.
